Russian Central Bank Governor Elvira Nabiullina stated that cryptocurrencies are anonymous, no one is responsible for them, and the government should not encourage their spread. At the same time, people need to provide alternatives. The Bank of Russia is trying to do this through its CBDC project. Elvira Nabiullina said: “These cryptocurrencies are anonymous, no one is accountable for them, and, in our opinion, a responsible state should not stimulate their spread and squeeze them out of payments.” Earlier news, the governor of the Central Bank of Russia believed that the legalization of Bitcoin in financial settlements was wrong.
