Chia Network is signed on to provide technical services for Costa Rica's National Climate Change Measurement System (SINAMMEC). The smart transaction platform said the Costa Rican government will use its blockchain technology to develop open-source software for tracking a "climate checklist".

The platform will be shared for free with other countries. It will also operate a national registry to manage carbon stocks and climate registration. The registry will record bilateral adjustments and transactions to transfer credit between nations.

Last week, Chia announced that it is developing a data-sharing prototype for the World Bank's climate warehouse, which will promote "the transparent sharing and reporting of climate project information and its issuances."
